Description / Summary
The full-time Life Enrichment Specialist assists the Life Enrichment Coordinator in delivering the residents' activity programs, leading group activities, and visiting residents on a one-to-one basis as directed and exhibits the ability to work with Special Needs or Developmentally Challenged residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Lead group activities as directed by the Activity Supervisor. May be requested to assist in activity planning.
- Visit with residents on a one-to-one basis as directed by the Life Enrichment Coordinator for the purpose of providing :

Sensory stimulationReality orientationIndividual instruction on specific leisure pursuitsA means of meeting individual needs as outlined in each resident's Activity Health Care PlanReport to Life Enrichment Coordinator resident's responses / progress to specific approaches utilized and maintain a written record. Must exhibit good writing skills.Report residents' progress to Life Enrichment Coordinator.Maintain an on-going inventory of departmental supplies and equipment maintenance. Report needs to Life Enrichment Coordinator. May be responsible for general housekeeping duties in Activity areas. Return shared areas such as dining room back to original condition at the conclusion of each activity in that area; i.e. rearrange furniture that may have been moved, remove trash from refreshments, pick up litter from floor, return equipment and supplies to appropriate storage areas, assist residents in transport to other areas of building, etc.Attend in-service training and continuing education workshops as directed by Life Enrichment Coordinator. Insure a written record of such attendance is provided for facility records if required.Select residents and communicate with nursing personnel for purpose of assistance in transporting residents to and from general activity areas.Recognize and immediately reported to nursing department abnormal signs and symptoms, which signify a physical change in a resident's condition, which would require nursing intervention.Report to Life Enrichment Coordinator on the functions or activities under their direction.Maintain a valid driver's license and be able to drive county vehicles.Perform other related duties as directed by Life Enrichment Coordinator.Qualifications
Minimum Training and Experience :
A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience in a recreation setting preferred.
