Full-time Green County Highway Summer LaborerEmployment Period: Mid spring/April 28 – Late fall/September 5 (start and end dates are negotiable)The Green County Highway Department is seeking Summer Laborers for the upcoming summer season. This position will perform general highway maintenance and assigned laborer tasks involving the use of hand tools and operation of motorized equipment, including but not limitedto traffic flagging, pothole patching, and general labor. This position works four days a week, ten hours a day; 40 hours per week 6:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday - Thursday. Hours may vary based on weather conditions. Some overtime hours will be required.No benefits are offered with seasonal positions. Rate of pay starting at $15.00 per hour.*Returning Summer Laborers will receive an additional $1.00 base wage until 3rd consecutive season.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assist with road and road side maintenance and construction operations. Flagging, painting, washing equipment and such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.Frequent interaction with highway staff and limited interaction with the public.Operate and maintain various pieces of motorized equipment, trucks and vehicles and tools as assigned.Stand for extended periods of time.
