Green Energy Consumers Alliance is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower consumers & communities to speed a just transition to a zero-carbon world through green energy programs, education, and advocacy. Green Energy Consumers is at the forefront of increasing the adoption of clean energy technologies through consumer aggregation and state-level energy policy. This internship would provide support to the many programs within our organization. For details on those programs, visit our website. 

 

This internship will provide valuable exposure to multiple programs, including heat pumps, electric vehicles (EVs), solar energy, our Green Powered program, the Green Municipal Aggregation (GMA) initiative, and policy research.  

Internship responsibilities include: 

  • Research, as needed, into policies, technologies, and market developments re 
  • Building decarbonization (including heat pumps),  
  • Transportation (including electric vehicles),  
  • Grid modernization, and  
  • Renewables. 
  • Assist with Drive Green and renewable energy program outreach, including reaching out to community-based organization partners and developing materials 
  • Assist with webinars and events, including organizing logistics and attending/presenting 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn more about clean energy, climate mitigation in three sectors – transportation, buildings, and electricity), public policy, and/or the nonprofit sector. 
  • Strong research skills. 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to closely follow procedures. 
  • Eligible candidates include students or recent graduates of a college or a training program in Massachusetts, OR who are residents of Massachusetts. Prospective interns must also meet one (1) of the following:  
    • Students must have completed or will complete at least their freshman year of college the semester before the internship (24 Credits) or have graduated within the past year;    
    • If a student attends or attended a community college (or 2‐year associate program), the student must have completed at least 24 credits;   
    • If a student has attended a training program, that program must have been completed within the last year 
    • If a student attends an out-of-state university, they must provide proof of Massachusetts residency; OR  
    • Graduate students must be currently enrolled in their program or have completed it within the last year. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with electric vehicles, renewable energy, and energy policy with a desire to learn more. 
  • Driver's license. 
  • A second language.

This 12-week internship with negotiable hours (ideally 35-40 hours/week) will be conducted in a hybrid fashion, working both remotely and at least one day a week from our office in Jamaica Plain, MAThe session will start on or after May 19, 2025, and end by August 29, 2025. The hours can be fulfilled around your schedule, but must be during 9am-6pm M-F. The pay is $22.00/hr.
