Automotive service advisors greet customers, listen to their description of the problems or service needed, determine the type of service required, prepares repair orders, provides estimates to the guest for repairs, and communicates the status of the vehicle throughout the repair process and at completion. If a vehicle requires additional repairs not covered in the original order, they estimate the additional cost and contact the customer for permission to do the work. They also advise customers on other available services.
Essential Duties are not limited to:
- Advises customers about necessary service for routine maintenance utilizing service menus
- Confers with customers about inspection results, recommend corrective procedures and prepares work order for needed repairs
- Prepares a repair order showing time, cost and labor estimates for service
- Asks the customer pertinent questions to obtain as much information to write a brief description of the customer’s concern to assist the technician in efficiently diagnosing the vehicle
- Explains the work performed and the repair totals to the customer
- Handles customer complaints
- Schedules service appointments
- Schedules loaner vehicles and completes loaner paperwork, assists in checking loaners in and out as needed
- Obtains customer and vehicle data prior to arrival when possible
- Greets customers in a timely, friendly manner and obtains vehicle information
