Perform Electrical Line Field Inspections
Green Grid Inc, a local SF Bay Area based technology company, is hiring multiple Electrical Line Inspectors to join our growing team of Electrical Power Line Inspectors, Utility Foresters, Arborists, Professional Engineers and risk auditors. Our highly collaborative and experienced team is dedicated to improving the safety of electrical infrastructure and to prevent utility ignited wildfires in the State of California. We are seeking candidates in all locations of California or nationwide who can relocate to California. This role will require approximately 80% of your time performing field inspections and 20% of your time working from your home office or attending meetings in our San Ramon, CA Headquarters.
As a Green Grid Electrical Line Inspector, you will report to the Operations Manager to perform a wide range of duties including field inspections of electrical transmission and distribution assets, review documents and standards, write reports, make spreadsheets and contribute to our product and service development using the state-of-the-art technologies in mobile, desktop, mapping and smart sensors.
The field inspections are performed using mobile apps and require our inspectors to have existing knowledge or quickly learn how to identify all types of transmission and distribution electrical equipment such as conductor, covered conductor, switches, relays, fuses, covers, vibration dampers, splices, SCADA, poles, towers and more.
Our inspectors should be familiar with California General Orders GO 95 and 128 and be familiar or able to quickly learn the relevant requirements in the California Utilities Wildfire Mitigation Plans.

As a Green Grid Inc Electrical Line Inspector, you will work with the company's technical program leadership team and ensure field inspections are performed in the safest and most efficient and effective manner and ensure that our customers are satisfied with the quality and quantity of inspections performed.
Our inspection program occurs throughout the State of California. Our inspectors may work from their home office and meet in our San Ramon CA office to plan and prepare for inspections. Each inspector will be assigned a region of responsibility which limits travel distances to the extent possible. Overnight travel is required in some instances to be able to perform multiple days of inspections in remote locations.
Key Job Requirements:
- Familiarity with standards and best practices for electric powerline design and construction
- Ability to learn and follow all company policies and procedures
- Ability to use web based calendar and email systems
- Attend all scheduled video conference meetings
- Safety mindset with experience in electrical line construction or inspection
- Experience and ability to manage your own travel within California
- Familiarity with technology such as tablet / iPad, ESRI Field Maps, Survey 123 and other tools to manage and perform a wide range of field inspections
- Review and learning of electric utility construction protocols, technical requirements and specifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Highly responsible, self-starter and team player
- Safe driving record and reliable transpiration (mileage reimbursed)
- Home office where you can participate in video conference calls and work on a laptop
Software Applications and Tools Skill:
- Our Electrical Line Inspectors must be confident and comfortable to use a laptop Windows PC and the Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat to review, edit and email documents.
- Ability to use cloud data sharing platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Google Drive to jointly edit and review documents.
Required Qualification and Experience:
- Electrical Line Worker Training
- Technical relevant work experience in Electrical Line Construction or Inspection
- Journeyman Lineman
- At least 10 years relevant work experience
- High School Diploma
Additional Desired Qualification and Experience:
- Clear understanding of California Utilities Wildfire Mitigation Plans
- Certified Safety Professional
- Understanding of GO 95
- Associates Degree in related Field
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the US for any employer without visa sponsorship. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required. Due to the nature of the company's business and clientele the successful candidate must be safety and security conscious, detail oriented, reliable, must have a good driver's record with DMV and must pass the company's pre-employment drug tests and background checks.
Compensation:
This is a full-time (40 hr./week) position using the company approved devices and network systems. The hourly pay rate, benefits and employment status (W2 or 1099) are negotiable and will be competitive depending on the qualifications, experience and employment status choice of the candidate.
