Description
Residential Energy Assessor is responsible for ensuring high quality improvements are performed in homes to company and building science standards. The Assessor will have experience and expertise in building science topics, will be able to correctly identify and solve problems in residential building stocks.
After an initial training period, the Green Homeowners United Energy Assessor will be expected to:
- Perform field data collection in the home sufficient for an energy assessment & energy model to be created for a home
- Work with a coordinator to problem-solve on-the-ground issues in old homes to best reduce energy use and health hazards.
- Use a variety of tools - spray foam, caulk, mastic, weatherstripping & more - reduce energy loss through air sealing and duct sealing
- Perform blower door tests, duct leakage tests, combustion safety tests, exhaust flow tests and more
- Understand building science principles behind different construction approaches and energy efficiency improvements to further improve homes.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong creative strategic thinking skills and willingness to innovate in fast moving issues.
- Experience in either residential construction, remodeling or evaluating homes is required
- Must be able to carry upwards of 50 lbs.
- Excellent listening, interpersonal and problem solving skills, strong personal time management skills, organization skills, and the ability to work under pressure, and the ability to resolve conflicts while maintaining effective relationships.
- Ability to undertake occasional travel within Wisconsin.
- Must have a valid Driver's License and personal vehicle for travel in and around La Crosse.
- Candidates will be expected to undertake a Building Performance Institute “Building Analyst” training.
Position Expectations
The will be expected, as understood in the signing of the employment agreement, to
- Present oneself to clients and partners with the values set forth by Green Homeowners United: honesty, trust, promptness, entrepreneurialism and sustainability
- Maintain all equipment provided for execution of the role as required for proper usage, storage and protection
- Perform energy assessments as needed for clients under the auspices of Green Homeowners United, and abide by the rules, regulations and company culture for performance and interpretation of them to clients
Compensation:
- The hourly rate for this position starts at $18.25 - $20 per hour, based on experience. After 1,000 hours, rate to increase as part of the apprenticeship schedule. If applicant already has BPI Building Analyst credentials, proficiency with tools of energy assessing, and energy assessing experience, then between $22-$26, based on experience, with opportunities for growth.
