Summary of position
The Head Tennis Professional plans and manages all the teaching and programming at Green Island Country Clubfacility.
Essential Functions
- Plans and directs instructional programs.
- Provides lessons and clinics for members and their guests.
- Organizes and administers tournaments, exhibitions, and inter- and intra-club social events.
- Administers and enforces club tennis policies and procedures regarding play on club courts.
- Strings racquets and performs other light equipment repairs.
- Orders supplies for courts and teaching.
- Writes and edits tennis-related news for the club’s newsletter, emails, social media, etc.
- Selects, trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates the Assistant Teaching Professionals.
- Transfers all charges from the tennis shop to the accounting department for lessons and clinics.
- Helps the Marketing Director develop a detailed annual calendar of tennis activities and applicable promotion campaigns for the membership.
- Maintains a close working relationship with other club professionals.
- Maintains accurate records of all lessons and clinics given, as well as accurate accounting/billing for all lessons, clinics, rentals, etc.
- Supervises and controls registration and billing of guests.
- Inspects all physical areas constantly.
- Participates in the monthly tennis committee.
- Represents the club in local professional tennis activities and at state or national tennis events with approval from the club.
- Is visibly present on the courts during peak periods of play.
- Conforms and abides by all club rules and by-laws and directives of the Club, its Board of Directors and General Manager.
- Completes other appropriate assignments made by the General Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- All Tennis and Pickleball instructors
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and related experience
- Two years of experience as Head Tennis Professional at a similar size tennis facility
- USPTA (Elite Pro preferred), IPTPA or PTR/PBR Certification
- Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license and a record that meets our company’s insurance standards
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 platforms, including the One Drive document sharing component
- Must be able to read and write English
- Must have a professional and positive attitude
- Must be able to pass the background checks, as well as a drug test
- Must be able to participate in potentially strenuous physical activity
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of USTA GA section programs preferred
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certified preferred
- Strong delegation and training skills
- Strong attention to detail that results in a first-class showcase tennis facility
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Creative thinker and problem solver
Work Environment
- Frequently works in and outdoors – exposed to weather conditions
- Noise levels are moderate to high
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and split shifts
Physical Demands
- Medium - 20 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds periodically
- Plays in tennis games or fills in as needed
- Frequently stands, walks, talks, hears, uses hands and arms, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Occasionally sits.

Pay: Salary Lessons (80/20 split with the Country Club)
