TITLE:                      GREEN LAKE COUNTY FAIR MAINTENANCEPOSITION (SUMMER-LTE)

DEPARTMENT:        FAIR

SUPERVISOR:          FAIR COORDINATOR

LOCATION: GREEN LAKE COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT (MAIN Location) & GREEN LAKE COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER 

SUMMARY: The Green Lake County Fair has made it their mission to provide positive youth development and leadership skills, along with promoting family and community involvement through education and tradition.

EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: Mid July – Early August, on an as needed basis. Must be available during the fair, July 31-August 3, 2025, for overtime hours.

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $16.00

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (ILLUSTRATIVE AND NOT INCLUSIVE)

·        Setup and Takedown of the following in preparation for the fair including, but not limited to:

o   Signage

o   Track screening

o   Exhibit Hall

o   Dairy Barn & Beef Barn Stalling

o   Barn Sprinklers

o   Tables and Chairs

o   Garbage Cans

o   Benches / Picnic Tables

·        Take care of minor repairs needed on buildings or facilities

·        Maintain a stocked and clean bathroom during the fair

·    Collect and dispose of trash as needed during the fair

·    Other responsibilities as assigned and required.

QUALIFICATIONS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

·    Must be at least 18 years of age.

·    Knowledge of the Green Lake County Fair is an added plus.

·    Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Ability to utilize a variety of hand tools and some power tools.
  • Ability to perform moderate or extensive physical efforts to complete required tasks. 
  • Ability to apply safety standards to all work performed.

·    Ability to understand and effectively carry out instructions, meet deadlines and maintain accurate and complete records.  

·    Available for occasional evening and weekend work.

·    Access to a vehicle, driver’s license and own vehicle insurance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  Given the variable and seasonal functions of this position, physical demands vary greatly from work assignment to work assignment and day to day. Approximately 75% to 90% of the time, depending on the actual work assignment, the employee will be performing work which could involve acute vision demands, walking, bending and twisting, feeling, standing, reaching, sitting, climbing hills or stairs, stooping, kneeling, communicating verbally, grappling, lifting heavy objects, crouching, balancing, crawling and climbing ladders and getting on and off equipment at various times and for various assignments. Good physical dexterity of arms, hands, legs, and feet is necessary for accurate and safe operation of equipment. Communications while working may be verbal. Vision and hearing are important for this job, as are hand and eye coordination. Some shifts may be spent pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying, as required.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Approximately 95% of work duties and responsibilities can be performed outdoors, where one may be exposed to seasonal weather elements, including extreme hot, cold, or humid conditions. Time may be spent at heights greater than twelve feet. Hazards related to this position include dangers from mechanical equipment, fast moving vehicles, heights, burns, fumes, mists or gasses, noxious odors, exposure to weather, dust, heat, equipment noise and fumes, electrical, and chemicals.  Employee may be required to work long or unusual hours as necessary to meet departmental needs.

EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Forklift, UTV, Wacker with multiple attachments, power tools, and various other tools as determined by project. Operation of equipment will be approved after certification or necessary safety has been taught.
