What are the responsibilities and job description for the Canine Caretaker (Dog Walker) position at Green Leaf Pet Resort?
Canine Caretakers are responsible for providing care to boarding guests. Caretakers walk, prepare meals, and feed guests while maintaining a clean and safe environment. Accurate record-keeping, monitoring, and documentation of our guest’s bathroom, diet, and health habits is required. Brief client interaction is required to check guests in and out of the building.
Shifts available: 6 am - 2:30 pm and 2 pm - 10 pm.
Employees must work at least (1) weekend day per week, Saturday and/or Sunday.

Job Duties:
- Walking dogs of various breeds and sizes
- Preparing and giving meals in accordance with owner instructions
- Accurately records feeding, bathroom and health habits
- Follows pet schedules to assist in housebreaking puppies or other health/medical concerns
- Cleaning and sanitation of pet suites and facility areas
- Removal of pet waste in accordance with company guidelines
- Daily housekeeping duties
- ie: Garbage, washing dishes, laundry
- Checks dogs in and out of the facility, interacting with clients in friendly manner
- Completes entry and exit exams
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- 16 years or older
- Prior experience is a plus, but is not required
Technical Skills:
- Math/numeric skills: basic arithmetic is required
- Literacy: able to read instructions and write basic information
- Listening: listens carefully to coworkers, customers, and animals (ie: growling, whining)
- Speaking: participates frequently and effectively to management, coworkers, and clients
- Organized: accurate record keeps and completes tasks in a timely manner
Working Conditions and Demands:
- The typical noise level for this position is moderate to high
- Lift up to 50lbs
- Bending/twisting at the waist, kneeling, squatting
- Standing and walking for an extended period
- Hear and talk to care for animals and to listen and communicate with other team members when needed
- See Clearly at 20 inches or less to read documents and ensure appropriate dog behavior.
- See clearly at 6 - 20 feet to allow appropriate distance between yourself and other animals/people
