Green Light and Home First Development are driven values-based developers and owners of a rapidly growing portfolio of affordable housing. We are seeking a Real Estate Accountant to work with our accounting team on accounting functions related to the development and ownership of several market-rate and affordable housing projects.
The position is ideally suited for a highly motivated, results-oriented individual with a solid accounting background. We are seeking a team member that combines a strong work ethic with the ability to work independently. This individual should have the desire to be a part of a rapidly expanding company, and work within a team of other highly motivated individuals.
We define success by generating appropriate cash flows, being a good partner and enhancing the lives of the residents in the communities we serve. We are looking for the right person to join our casual, collaborative and results-oriented team.
The Accountant will report to the controller and will be based in Portland Oregon. The position has both schedule flexibility and opportunities for remote work with the expectation of at least two in person office days per week.
Duties:
- Financial statement preparation and balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Work with assistant controller to prepare construction loan draws for development projects
- Complete monthly bank and draw reconciliations
- Maintain development general ledgers and financial statements for each property
- Assist in review of cash flow for all development sources
- Work closely with development managers and controller
- Review underlying loan and equity partnership documents and apply proper accounting treatment to financial records
- Assist in the preparation of annual audited financial statements on GAAP basis
- Assist CPA with preparation of tax documents
- Assist with special projects, as needed
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently with attention to details
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, preferred but not required
- Quick Books, Yardi and/or other real estate accounting software
- Knowledgeable of GAAP/accounting theory
- Proficiency with standard suite of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
- Property Management or Real Estate Accounting, preferred but not required
- Full Cycle Accounting background preferred
Compensation:
Salary: $65-75K per year
