Delivery Driver: Individual with experience in safely and efficiently transporting cannabis products, materials, and supplies between the cultivation facility and licensed dispensaries
Job Description: The Delivery Driver will safely load, drive and deliver cannabis products, supplies, and equipment to and from designated locations, including dispensaries, wholesalers, other authorized facilities, and vendor/supplier locations.He or she will adhere to strict state and local cannabis regulations, while ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining product integrity, and providing excellent service to clients and business partners. This position requires flexibility as work hours may change from week to week based on the needs of the business and may require overtime on certain high volume delivery days.
The Delivery Driver responsibilities & duties include:
- Transport Cannabis Products and Other Supplies:
- Ensure all deliveries are completed on time, as scheduled, and in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Verify product quantities and proper documentation (e.g., manifests, delivery logs) before leaving the facility and upon arrival at the destination.
- Picking up materials and supplies as needed from vendor locations and bringing them back to the facility.
- Ensure Product Integrity:
- Maintain secure and safe transportation practices to prevent damage, loss, or contamination of cannabis products.
- Ensure that all products are loaded and stored in the vehicle according to safety protocols, including secure packaging and temperature control, if necessary.
- Monitor product handling during transport to ensure compliance with local and state regulations, including tracking requirements.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Accurately create, maintain and submit all necessary documentation for deliveries, including pick lists, manifests, invoices, and delivery logs, in compliance with cannabis industry regulations and/or company standards.
- Understand and work within METRC and Leaf Trade software systems. Training will be provided.
- Ensure the proper handling and delivery of cannabis products in accordance with the state’s cannabis tracking system, METRC. .
- Adhere to all security protocols to prevent theft, loss, or diversion of cannabis products.
- Customer Service:
- Provide courteous and professional service to all clients, ensuring that deliveries are made promptly and correctly.
- Communicate with clients upon arrival, ensuring smooth handoff of products and resolving any issues or discrepancies in delivery.
- Maintain positive relationships with dispensaries, wholesalers, and other clients to ensure ongoing satisfaction.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Ensure the delivery vehicle is in good working condition by conducting regular inspections and monitoring performance through site and sound.
- Report any mechanical issues or accidents promptly and ensure the vehicle is properly maintained to ensure safety and reliability.
- Fuel the vehicle as needed with a company supplied gas card.
- Safety and Security:
- Adhere to all safety and security protocols, including vehicle security, product handling, and emergency procedures.
- Operate the vehicle safely and responsibly, following all traffic laws and regulations, to ensure the safety of both the driver and other road users.
- Report any security or safety incidents immediately and cooperate with investigations as required.
- Logistics Coordination and Supply Chain Support:
- Assist with pick and pack functions as needed as well as quality control checks of orders before being manifested for delivery.
- Communicate with the logistics and/or the department supervisor regarding delivery schedules, routes, and any changes or delays.
- Plan efficient routes to optimize delivery times while adhering to regulations and safety standards.
- Keep track of fuel levels, delivery times, and any delays to report back to the management team.
- Cleaning and organizing of the Shipping & Receiving dock area, organizing and auditing the vaults, and cleaning other areas within the facility as needed.
Required Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or equivalent is preferred.
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a related field, preferably within the cannabis industry or in regulated environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cannabis industry regulations, including transportation and security protocols.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass background checks in compliance with local and state regulations.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills to interact with clients, supervisors, and colleagues.
- Ability to lift and carry packages, sometimes weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Experience with cannabis tracking software (e.g., METRC and Leaf Trade).
- Familiarity with GPS systems and delivery route optimization.
Scheduling Requirements:
- Full-time position with a set schedule, but may require flexibility for overtime or adjustments based on delivery needs.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, as deliveries may occur in all seasons.
- Physical demands may include loading and unloading deliveries and navigating the delivery vehicle.
- Occasional overnight or long-distance deliveries, depending on the needs of the operation and business..
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a warehouse and cultivation environment, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds repetitively.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to meet supply chain needs.
