Overview
The Wildland Firefighter plays a critical role in protecting natural resources, property, and lives from the dangers of wildfires. This position requires individuals who are physically fit, possess strong teamwork skills, and are dedicated to serving their communities. Wildland Firefighters are responsible for combating and controlling wildfires, conducting fire prevention activities, and ensuring safety protocols are followed during operations.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to wildland fire incidents and assist in firefighting operations.
  • Operate firefighting equipment and tools effectively and safely.
  • Perform heavy lifting and physical tasks required for fire suppression efforts.
  • Conduct assessments of fire behavior and environmental conditions.
  • Participate in training exercises to maintain readiness and improve skills.
  • Provide first aid and basic life support as needed during emergencies.
  • Maintain equipment and vehicles to ensure operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop strategies for fire containment.

Skills

  • Mechanical knowledge to understand and operate firefighting equipment.
  • Ability to assess vital signs in emergency situations.
  • Proficiency in heavy lifting techniques to handle equipment and materials safely.
  • Certification in CPR to provide immediate assistance when necessary.
  • Experience with commercial driving for transporting personnel and equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic life support procedures for emergency response.
  • First aid certification to address injuries on-site effectively.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $26.46 - $41.48 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 112 per week

Shift:

  • 12 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Night shift

People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply

License/Certification:

  • NWCG qualification for ENGB (Preferred)
