GMHEC is looking for a dynamic Contracts Specialist to join our team and support our members (Champlain College, Middlebury College, and St. Michael’s College). Key responsibilities:
*Contract Development & Negotiation
-Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements across departments; ensure favorable contract terms; coordinate with finance, legal, and procurement stakeholders.
*Contract Compliance & Risk Mitigation
-Ensure contracts comply with institutional policies and regulatory requirements; assess risk on contract terms; address compliance issues.
*Partner Relationship Management
-Maintain strong working relationships with external partners; resolve disputes
*Contract Lifecycle Management
-Oversee initial request and drafting to execution, monitoring, renewal or termination; maintain organized system for tracking deadlines and deliverables.
*Process Improvement & Policy Development
-Develop, communicate, and implement institutional policies for contract management; evaluate and improve processes to enhance efficiency, compliance, and risk control.
*Internal Collaboration & Training
-Work with administrators, faculty, and department heads to understand their contractual needs; work with member finance and budget teams to ensure contractual alignment with fiscal constraints and projections; provide guidance and training to staff on contract policies, procedures, and best practices.
*Reporting & Documentation
-Prepare regular reports for senior leadership; maintain comprehensive documentation for each contract.
Qualifications & Skills:
*Bachelors degree in Business, Legal Studies, Public Administration, or related field. Master's degree or JD preferred.
*Minimum of 4 years contracts management experience, with preference for experience in a higher education or public sector environment.
*Professional certifications such as CPCM, CCM, or similar are advantageous.
