Position Summary
The Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of workplace safety within our operations. This includes compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory requirements, training employees on safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a proactive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, DOT, EPA, and other regulatory agencies governing hydrogen production, handling, and services.
- Maintain and update company safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.
- Conduct internal safety audits and inspections; lead regulatory audits and investigations as required.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external regulatory agencies regarding safety matters.
Risk Management & Incident Prevention
- Identify workplace hazards and implement mitigation strategies to reduce risks.
- Conduct regular job hazard analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments.
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and safety incidents; implement corrective actions and report findings.
- Develop emergency response plans, including fire, chemical spill, and gas leak scenarios.
Training & Safety Culture Development
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for all employees, including new hire orientation and ongoing refresher courses.
- Promote a strong safety culture by engaging employees at all levels in continuous safety improvement.
- Organize and lead safety committee meetings to address concerns and share best practices.
Equipment & Process Safety
- Oversee Process Safety Management (PSM) for hydrogen operations.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and other safety gear.
- Monitor hazardous materials handling, storage, and disposal in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
- Develop, implement, and test emergency response procedures, including evacuation and crisis management protocols.
- Coordinate with local emergency services and first responders for emergency drills and response planning.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in industrial manufacturing, chemical processing, or hydrogen/renewable energy.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and PSM regulations.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA 30/OSHA 500 certification, or equivalent.
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Hazardous Materials Safety.
- Familiarity with hydrogen production safety protocols and best practices.
Other Beneficials:
