The successful candidate will have the option to teach and participate in job duties remotely/virtually for the first quarter (through December 2025). The candidate is expected to maintain some campus presence in teaching and service starting in January 2026.

Green River College has four locations, including the main campus in Auburn, with satellite learning centers in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English as a second language, and Continuing Education students. The Professional Writing Instructor will:
- Teach ENGL&235: Introduction to Technical Communication and ENGL 335: Advanced Technical Communication
- Further develop the Technical Communication and Professional Writing program
- Act as a liaison with the Bachelor of Applied Science programs, along with other Technical Communication faculty
- Design and deliver technical writing content for differing BAS programs (for example, technical communication in healthcare for BAS in Nursing, etc.), based on need
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in academic and industry practices and technologies.
- Advise students, serve on committees, and perform other duties outlined in the negotiated faculty agreement
- Possibly teach other courses in the English division, including composition, literature, and creative writing
- Master’s Degree in English or related field
- Demonstrated successful experience providing guidance or instruction in professional writing strategies or techniques in an academic or industry setting
- Experience teaching relevant course content in a post-secondary academic environment
- Experience with advising, mentoring, outreach, tutoring, learning approaches or accommodations, or other types of programs relevant to under-represented groups such as various socioeconomic groups, gender identities, minoritized groups, veterans, and people with disabilities
- Demonstrated commitment to applying and/or integrating equity and social justice strategies in an academic or industry setting
Curriculum Vitae and Cover Letter

Types of Deliverables We’d Like to See (1-2 pages maximum per sample)
- We are looking for technical documentation, video walkthroughs, or related deliverables that show these skills.
- These can include user guides, instructions, job aids, marketing communication, or professional communication that demonstrates the above.
- In your portfolio, please aim to demonstrate the following:
- Universal design (accessible deliverables that are perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users)
- Current understanding of industry best practices regarding document design
