About the College: 

Green River College is made up of approximately 34% Academic Transfer, 30% Professional-Technical, 11% Adult Basic Education, 25% Continuing & Community Education students. In addition, there are five bachelors of applied science four-year degrees offered. ?Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw.? Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English as a second language, and Continuing Education students. Green River's service areas are increasingly ethnically diverse, comprising African Americans, African immigrants, Asian Americans, Asians, Latinos/as, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Middle Eastern Americans, among other communities.

About our Team: 

Come work with our team! The College and Career Pathways division promotes student success through high-quality instruction responsive to our community's evolving needs. We strive for excellence in teaching a diverse population of students in preparation for college and career readiness.

 


  • Teach Transitional Studies (TS) classes including reading, writing, and information literacy in the context of social studies, science, and/or literature and arts subjects

  • Teach TS math classes from foundational through high school levels

  • Teach in-person, online and hybrid modalities and possibly off-campus or evening courses depending on program needs

  • Teach to non-traditional students, such as youth reengagement, adult learners, and/or students with disabilities

  • Advise students in their high school completion goals andin transitioning to college and career pathways

  • Participate in departmental and division processes and initiatives, while performing other duties as outlined in the negotiated faculty agreement

  • Continually update and develop new curriculum to serve the needs of TS students

  • Collaborate with college-wide faculty for curriculum alignment

  • Stay current with issues and trends in the field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Competent with technology for instruction

  • Experience teaching non-native speakers of English 





Qualifications: 

  • Master's Degree in Adult Education or in a closely related subject area

  • Experience teaching reading, writing and math to students from secondary to adult education in a classroom setting or community-based organization

  • Knowledge of and experience with advising students in High School Plus (HS )high school completion, or other secondary education programs

This is a full-time tenure-track position beginning Fall 2025, continuing with annual nine-month contracts. The salary will be determined according to the candidate's educational background, teaching experience and applicable work experience.
