What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Assistant I or II position at Green River District Health Department?

The Green River District Health Department is accepting applications for a full-time Clinical Assistant I or Clinical Assistant II located at the Daviess County Health Center in Owensboro, KY. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the nurse practitioners and registered nurses in facilitating the transition of the patient/client from the registration process to the actual receipt of services by professional and technical personnel. Perform initial physical measurements and take history, including interviewing to obtain history. Taking Pottinger growth chart measurements such as weight, height, collecting specimens for laboratory analysis and conducting laboratory procedures according to Clinical Laboratory Improvement Acts (CLIA) standards. Maintain appropriate laboratory controls and document services provided. Assist APRN as needed. Conduct Harm Reduction activities that include distributing and recovering harm reduction supplies and providing education and support on safer drug use, safer sex, HIV, hepatitis C and STIs. Maintain active engagement and work one-on-one with clients to achieve positive outcomes. Be involved in the community and conduct outreach activities in high-risk areas to reach persons who inject drugs. Link clients newly diagnosed with HCV or HIV to treatment services. Accurately complete and input required visit forms into REDCap. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for Clinical Assistant I: High school diploma or GED.

Compensation: $13.50 - $16.79/hr., salary may be negotiable according to merit system guidelines.

Minimum qualifications for Clinical Assistant II: High School diploma or GED. Completion of an approved program in Certified Nurse Assistant, Certified Medical Administrative Assistant or Certified Phlebotomist Program and one (1) year of experience in Public Health or in a medical setting such as nursing home, hospital, doctor’s office with experience in providing patient care services, conducting laboratory procedures or the collection of specimens for laboratory analysis or two (2) years of experience in Public Health or in a medical setting such as nursing home, hospital, doctor’s office, with experience in providing patient care services, conducting laboratory procedures or the collection of specimens for laboratory analysis or an equivalent combination or education or experience or training.

Compensation: $14.31 - $17.79/hr., salary may be negotiable according to merit system guidelines.
