Primary Purpose:

The Teacher performs many of the daily tasks that keep the center safe, clean, and inviting for children. The teacher is friendly, respectful and finds joy in connecting with children and families. This job is a full-time, exempt position. Duties are detailed below and are essential to the operation of the center.

Major Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Be knowledgeable about minimum standards, assist with maintaining compliance.
  • Keep records of children’s development.
  • Provide communications for parents in the form of newsletters and daily activity posts regarding curriculum and daily interactions. Plan for an execute individual conferences twice a year.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly cleaning & sanitizing tasks.
  • Assist in keeping the center clean and organized.
  • Refresh the indoor and outdoor environments to reflect the curriculum and project work.
  • Maybe asked to work on special tasks or projects from time to time.
  • Provide necessary paperwork and documentation required by minimum standards.

  • Maintain open and direct communication with all colleagues.
  • Build and maintain trust across the company through implementation of systems and programs that establish efficient communication.
  • Encourage innovation and risk-taking by evaluating team member ideas and strategies and supporting appropriate implementation.
  • Ensure equity and disrupt bias by evaluating all policies, communications and programs and adjusting when needed.
  • Support and communicate organizational mission, philosophies, values, goals and policies to families, colleagues, and community.
  • Project professional and positive image in all interactions.

Operations:

  • Perform opening and closing duties.
  • Plan and implement curriculum under direction of the Preschool Director.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly cleaning & sanitizing tasks.
  • Assist in keeping the center clean and organized.
  • Refresh the indoor and outdoor environments to reflect the curriculum and project work.

Physical Environment/Health and Safety

  • Must maintain a current CPR and First Aid certification

Teamwork

  • Establish and maintain a relationship of cooperation and respect with colleagues.
  • Assume a fair share of work. Look for ways to be helpful. Demonstrate initiative.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as needed

  • Support and follow all Green Space Learning policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality about issues concerning other staff members, children and families Green Space Learning management and operations.
  • Timely arrival and dependability are crucial to success in this position.
  • Occasional Saturdays may be required for professional development days.
  • Must not involve clients, contractors or families in Green Space Learning concerns.
  • Ensure continuity of operations by reporting to work on time and maintaining consistent attendance, arranging and communicating leave requests in advance.
  • Continue professional growth by attending courses, asking for feedback, and reading professional literature.
  • Must obtain a minimum of 24 hours of continuing professional Development annually.

Scope of Authority

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Detail and service oriented; passionate about inquiry and play based learning, nature play and working with young children.
  • Work In both the indoor and outdoor spaces year-round, in all types of weather.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and openness to new ideas in current practices.
  • Receive constructive criticism with an attitude that indicates a willingness to improve.
  • Give feedback in a respectful manner with intent to guide an employee to improve.

Education and Experience:

  • Child Development Associates (CDA) or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred)
  • 1-2 years of experience in early childhood education or related field is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds. Must be able to sit on the floor to work with children.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
