We are seeking an accomplished and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our dynamic events team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of a thriving portfolio of Americas events and awards, with a particular focus on the Real Asset finance sector, notably infrastructure, energy and real estate finance.


Our events business is strategically positioned to capitalize on the increasing demand for high-quality networking platforms and industry engagement. This expansion follows the acquisition of IJGlobal by Green Street in September 2024, a development that has significantly enhanced IJGlobal’s capacity to deliver exceptional networking experiences through our established conferences and awards portfolio. By integrating IJGlobal's deep market expertise in infrastructure with Green Street's resources and insights in real estate, we are driving innovation and excellence across our events portfolio for the Real Asset community.


As a Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and securing new business opportunities, cultivating long-term client relationships, and driving revenue growth. This position requires a strategic mindset, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in business development, particularly in the context of B2B events. The role will focus but not exclusively on emerging markets.


Responsibilities

  • Drive and exceed sponsorship, table sales, advertising, and tailored marketing revenues across awards dinners and conferences
  • Engage regularly with key accounts to align solutions with their business development goals, utilizing face-to-face, Teams, or phone interactions
  • Prospect and secure new accounts through networking, campaigns, cold calls, and lead generation channels
  • Identify and capitalize on upselling and cross-selling opportunities between awards, events, and subscriptions
  • Collaborate with internal teams (sales, events, marketing, editorial) to deliver and grow revenue streams
  • Become an expert in both sales processes and real asset finance related to IJGlobal and Green Street
  • Turn client feedback into actionable strategies to drive new business, product development and address competitor risks
  • Maintain accurate Salesforce records for pipeline tracking and business insights
  • Provide regular progress reports and forecasts to sales management
  • Partner with marketing and product teams to convert leads and create tailored sales opportunities
  • Travel for client meetings and events to foster relationships and generate sales
  • Ensure timely invoice payments by coordinating with finance and credit control teams
  • Meet and exceed revenue and client engagement targets, thriving under pressure
Requirements:
  • Strong English communication skills (written and spoken) with high numeracy proficiency
  • Proven track record of driving new business development opportunities, preferably in emerging markets
  • Ability to be immersed in a collaborative culture where success is shared and celebrated
  • Strong time management capacity alongside great work and admin habits
  • Excellent presentation and telephone sales abilities
  • Highly motivated, eager to learn, and coachable, with a great attitude
  • Confidence in engaging with senior-level influencers, budget holders, and decision-makers
  • Desirable: Solid understanding of the infrastructure and energy sectors
  • Desirable, but not essential: Business fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Flexible and adaptable team player who thrives independently when needed
  • Persistent and professional sales approach
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experienced in using Salesforce effectively
  • Authorization to work in the United States now and in the future, without visa or sponsorship requirements
