What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Green Valley Grocery?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update accounting records and files
- Assist with month-end / year-end closing process, research financial transactions, and reconcile any discrepancies
- Analyze budgets and provide budget/forecasting support to departments
- Prepare reports and projections based on financial data
- Analyze transactions with internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare documents for audits
- Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
- Report to the Accounting Manager and work to improve financial processes
- Any other duties as assigned by Company Management
Experience and Education Required:
- At least 3 years previous experience as a Staff Accountant or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Prior experience with accounting information systems

Essential Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit/stand up for up to a full 8-hours, in the performance of the position
- Must be able to work with limited supervision under stressful conditions
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form to perform all duties associated with the position
- Must be able to use a desktop and lap top computer as well as mobile and desk phone to accomplish duties
- Must be able to work varied hours/days as business dictates
