The Center Operations Assistant (COA) is responsible for performing on-site facility checks to ensure a safe and friendly environment for all GVR members, guests, and volunteer staff, as well as supporting employees and members in day-to-day functions. The COA acts as shift lead to Recreation Services Assistants (RSAs) working in GVR’s recreation centers.
This Part-time vacancy is to cover 3 pm (1pm when needed) to 10:30 pm, Wednesday (alternating every other week) through Saturday.
Essential Job Functions
- Conduct walk-throughs of each facility as needed to identify and correct any safety concerns or policy violations.
- Reviews program plans for the day and organizes Recreation Service Assistants as needed to cover for large events or fill in where staffing is lacking.
- Act as a liaison between GVR and its members and guests.
- Manage pool closings and openings during inclement weather, including proper communication of such.
- Interact with members in a friendly and upbeat manner while listening to and acting upon any questions or concerns.
- Verify the membership status of facility users by checking membership cards and conducting Membership Matters Checkpoints.
- Deliver all mail (interoffice and regular) and requested supplies to centers.
- Complete incident reports both for accidents/illnesses and for behavioral issues when appropriate.
- Complete work order requests for maintenance issues.
- Ensure bulletin boards are updated and literature bins are filled at each center.
- Enforces safety regulations.
- Assists RSAs with large set-ups or other programs, as needed.
- Lead by example for field staff and model appropriate behavior.
- Fill in for RSA tasks as needed to ensure activities continue and member needs are met.
Ancillary Job Functions
- Resupply the COA vehicle with needed supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications – Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must maintain a valid, current Driver’s License
- Must maintain employer-provided CPR/AED certification

General office conditions. Vehicles, fitness rooms, pool decks, locker rooms. Will be exposed to varying, inclement outdoor weather conditions.

Must be fluent in the English language, written and verbal. Ability to communicate effectively with others, in person and via telephone. Ability to operate motor vehicles, cell phones and/or radio equipment, telephones, computers, fax machines, copiers, tablets, etc. Demonstrate excellence in customer service. Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, communicate proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of organizational goals. Knowledge of GVR operations, services, policies and procedures, rules and regulations. Ability to work independently and apply decision-making skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule, with varying hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Salary : $17 - $21
