General Statement of Responsibilities:
The Activities Assistant is responsible for assisting in the implementation of a comprehensive activity program to meet each resident’s social, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual needs.
Qualifications:
Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, ability to work with elderly & disabled persons, must be able to read, speak English, and follow written instructions.
Major Job Duties:
1. Assist the Activity Director with conducting and documenting residents’ assessment; and assist with: plan, schedule, and implement a program of individual and group activities based on each resident’s schedule and needs.
2. Assist the Activity Director, as assigned, with: complete the activity component of the resident assessment within 48 hours of admission; review and update the program as necessary, but at least quarterly. Gather data and document requires ancillary assessments including, but not limited to resident assessment protocol summary documentation.
3. Will carry out the program of activities, which provide entertainment, intercommunication, exercise, relaxation, and diversion opportunity to express creative talent, fulfill basic psychological, social and spiritual needs, and will be available to residents.
4. Assist the Activities Director with: organization & implantation of daily activities which include large and small group activities, evening & weekend functions, trips, specialized events, and individualized programs which may include room visits and in-room activities for residents unable to leave their rooms.
