This role is support to the success of our Global Trade Solutions Team. The Duty Drawback Specialist performs daily operations for Duty Drawback clients. This role ensures all relevant regulations and SOPs are followed, optimizes data analysis, finds efficiencies and solutions, provides exceptional service, and presents strategies to maximize our client’s Duty Drawback Program.
The qualifications required include a keen understanding of the Customs entry process and the performance of high-quality data analysis, following the required procedures and processes for compliant Duty Drawback claims, and working within a team throughout the United States.
How you will be successful…
- Completion of Duty Drawback claim filings, which includes but is not limited to:
- Compiling and indexing of required documents
- Analyzing large data sets including Customs broker, client ERP, ACE, AES, and BOM
- Reviewing data for quality and errors
- Working within systems to create compliant Duty Drawback claims
- Assessment of various Duty Drawback provisions based on client data and business to maximize refunds for clients
- Auditing Duty Drawback claims and resolution of discrepancies
- Submission of Duty Drawback claims to CBP
- Monitoring of claims and communication with CBP
- Working with the client and CBP for Full Desk Reviews (FDR)
- Manage and understand all Duty Drawback provisions, including manufacturing, and the required rulings and bills of materials.
- Draft and file Duty Drawback Privilege Applications.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients.
- Manage data, documents, and filings.
- Analyze client and internal data quality and errors, identify root causes, and, when needed, work with GTS upper management to resolve issues proactively.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions and support.
- Assist in reviewing client data for new potential clients.
- Creation of and maintenance of standard operation procedures.
- Implement and actively learn new client requirements, which includes onboarding.

What you will bring….
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Customs and Duty Drawback regulations and laws, including tariffs, trade agreements, and import/export restrictions.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations.
- Prepare and submit accurate Duty Drawback claims.
- Ability to file multiple Duty Drawback types and aptitude to learn for expertise gaps.
- Proactively identify potential issues and opportunities and present solutions.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies and Customs officials.
- High level of data analytical skills.
Work Environment:
- On-site in an office setting with occasional travel to client sites and industry conferences.
Required Qualifications:
- Customs brokerage experience (minimum 3 years).
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Excellent attention to detail and organization.
- Strong written and oral communication skills - this role will be client-facing.
- Self-starter that works with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Customs Specialist (NCBFAA) Designation.
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB).
- Duty Drawback Experience (2 years).
