SUMMARY: GreenAcres is a family run company focused on supporting the health of our community. We are looking for friendly, customer focused, organized individual to join our deli team. The deli position is responsible for taking care of customers, maintaining food quality, providing samples and educating on ingredients and helping with special diets. A passion for healthy food is a plus.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a customer friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of customer service.
· Help educate customers about our products and our store philosophy.
· Inform every customer of our loyalty program, in-store classes and events, and customer rewards program.
· Ensure successful completion of all opening/closing duties.
· Ensure that the “Grab N Go” case is full with items (i.e., sandwiches, pizza, soups, etc.) and check for expired items.
· Continually monitor “Hot Case” for fullness and freshness; fill case as needed.
· Continually monitor “Dessert Case” for fullness and freshness, fill as needed. Wrap and label bakery items as needed for special orders. Scoop cookie dough when needed.
· Ensure that the “Cold Case” is kept looking full and fresh; prepare items for salad bar and salads.
· Offer samples, suggestions and ways to prepare products.
· Follow food preparation/food handling sanitation procedures in compliance with Health Department regulations.
· Work off recipes for production and document recipes
· Prepare fresh smoothies, coffee drinks and teas.
· Call for back-up as needed to minimize wait time for customers.
· Wash all dishes as needed; keep floors clean of all debris; take out trash as often as needed.
· Maintain cleanliness of cooler daily; clean out thoroughly weekly.
· Execute any daily tasks set forth by the Deli Manager.
· Attend mandatory monthly store and department meetings.
· Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have any supervisory duties.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, Team Member must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The incumbent must be able to use the following machinery: espresso machines, drink blenders, coffee grinders, coffee brewing machinery, tea brewers and chef knives. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a commercial kitchen environment with merchandise displays and items available for purchase in inventory.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The Team Member must occasionally lift and/or move items over 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
TRAVEL: Local travel may be required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of deli experience in a commercial kitchen or certification from an accredited school or training program highly desired. Knowledge or natural and organic foods preferred. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of preparing palatable foods that are appetizing in appearance or be willing to learn. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of methods and procedures of serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling or be willing to learn. Food Handler’s Card and/or ServSafe can be required depending upon state location.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, the Team Member should have a working knowledge of Microsoft office and internet usage. POS knowledge highly desirable.
