Department: Electrical Engineering

Reports to: Managing Director/Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

General Summary

The position of Intern is seasonal or temporary and involves focusing on a particular aspect of a project. Student interns work on an exciting mix of challenging projects. Our teams work alongside our student seasonal interns to ensure proper learning and development in their field.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties

  • Team player with developing technical, Revit, CAD, and presentation skills.
  • Promote adherence to office standards and procedures.
  • Promote the firm's reputation through good client relations.
  • A demonstrated ability to learn the basics of design and analyses within their discipline and grow within the firm.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Assists the senior engineering staff in executing the technical activities required on assigned projects and learns the discipline's technical policies and procedures.
  • Under supervision, participates in technical studies, investigations, and designs on assigned projects.
  • Assists the project team in producing projects on time, within budget, and of high technical quality.
  • Learns company technical policies, procedures, and standards during the execution of projects for clients.
  • Under supervision, assists in executing design processes on assigned projects and requests assistance from senior technical staff when needed.
  • Assists the design team in the coordination of project designs with other disciplines.
  • Accompanies senior technical staff in performing on-site inspections during construction and learns how to communicate design requirements with contractors and equipment suppliers.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Highly organized, detail-driven, and conscientious.
  • Developing skills in current versions of Revit, AutoCAD, MS Word, and MS Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to cultivate a professional presence through competence, reliability, honesty, integrity, respect for others, positivity, and thoughtful listening.

Education And Experience

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical, industrial, or computer engineering.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a standard office setting, onsite at client locations, and on construction/building sites.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires sufficient physical ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform work in an office setting, which includes extensive employee contact, frequent interruptions, the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist, to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight, to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard, to verbally communicate to exchange information, to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation, to verbally communicate to exchange information with or without accommodation, to see in the normal visual range with or without correction, and can hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. This position requires physical mobility on and around construction sites before and after the installation of landscaping, pavement, stairs, elevators, electricity, heating, and air conditioning.
