Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Repair and replace extrusion process line equipment as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation, with a strong emphasis on diagnosing and repairing electrical and control systems.
- Prioritize breakdowns based on input from production and provide clear communication.
- troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems, particularly those involving electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, and relay-based logic, in collaboration with production personnel.
- Ensure work orders are completed in a timely fashion and all parts used are accounted for.
- Responsible for ensuring all equipment is diagnosed and repaired in a timely manner or elevating to the Maintenance Manager level when the repairs will take longer than allotted time.
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
- Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
- Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
- Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
- Identify the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
- Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
- Collaborate with production manager or plant engineer regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
- Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with production manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
Skills Required:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and schematics.
- Understands electrical diagrams, familiar with 12 VDC to 480 VAC electrical wiring, with diagnostic and troubleshooting capability.
- Experience with PLC’s, VFD’s, and relay-based logic.
- Multi-discipline skills including but not limited to; mechanical, electrical, HVAC skills and the ability to quickly learn new processes/equipment.
- Effective problem-solving skills specific to electrical and control systems, with the ability to prioritize and resolve issues quickly.
- Effective communication, observation, planning, writing, reading, basic math, problem solving and prioritizing skills.
- Proficient computer skills to receive/close work orders, view/search different folders for manual, notes and/or documents.
- Demonstrates good housekeeping practices and 5S principles.
- Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
- Works well independently and with others.
- Good communication skills.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically with electrical systems and controls, with a proven track record of improvements.
- 3-5 years of experience in a maintenance environment, including hands-on work with PLCs, VFDs, and control systems.
- Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
- Must be able to visually inspect machines.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
