Panthers Alternative Child-Centered Environment (PACE) Classroom

 

Location: Greenbrier School District

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; and
  2. Completed at least 60 hours of college credit; or
  3. Passed the Praxis Parapro Assessment (or willingness to pass)

Job Description

This position is responsible for providing tiered student support under the direction of the PACE teacher and leaders designed to  prepare students for current and future success. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Consistently uses effective and productive soft skills with all school district stakeholders
  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
  • Supports teacher in the implementation of District approved curriculum daily for individual students
  • Serves as a contributing member on the PACE team with other staff members as appropriate and directed
  • Collaborate with school Student Intervention Teams for regular student progress monitoring
  • Assists in implementation of individual behavior plans, including progress monitoring and data collection related to behavior goals
  • Supports teacher’s implementation of Positive Behavior Incentive System into the classroom culture
  • Assists in facilitating a blended learning approach as applicable, including support of direct instruction or intervention as directed   
  • Assists in implementation of student, school, and district curricular goals.
  • Contributes to maintain a structured classroom schedule through collaboration with other staff members and support staff, including but not limited to other teachers, mental health professionals, counselors, special education teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, etc. 
  • Supports implementation of lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the learning needs of each student daily as directed by the teacher and leaders.
  • Participates in professional development as directed, including but not limited to adult learning around Alternative Learning Environments, Science of Reading, Response to Intervention (academic and behavior), differentiation, crisis management, and job-embedded curriculum development
  • Supports the implementation of the Science of Reading
  • Collaborates with teacher and staff to progress monitor students' growth (academic/social/behavior) and report monitoring data
  • Participates in the school and district wide Social and Emotional Learning program and initiatives
  • Supports the creation of and maintains a classroom environment that is conducive and appropriate to learning in both appearance and activities
  • Motivates students to learn.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of learning objectives (academic and behavior) and curriculum goals daily
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities daily.
  • Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily
  • Communicate with students and parents on student progress on a continuous basis
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
  • Maintain personal safety of students
  • Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and /or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Ensure that substitutes will have all information necessary for effective instruction
  • Follow state, district, and school policies and expectations
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Will be required to regularly stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
  • Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • May experience constant interruptions, inflexible deadlines, and changes to normal routines.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet special task and project deadlines
