Job Description
This position is responsible for providing instruction and support ensuring student growth as well as current and future success.
The essential functions ensure clarity on the key responsibilities of a math teacher’s role in the Greenbrier School District.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Curriculum and Instruction
- Teaches District approved curriculum daily
- Collaboratively participates in and contributes to curriculum development and creation of unit organizers
- Implements school and/or district curricular and instructional goals, including implementing curriculum unit and developing lesson plans and instructional material
- Implements the school and district’s Model of Instruction
- Implements the school and district’s Multi Tiered System of Support including:
- Using evidenced based Tier I instruction
- Creating and implementing tiered interventions and extensions based on student data
- Implements evidenced based assessment and grading practices aligned with district systems
- Implements the Science of Reading in all instruction
- Progress monitors students' growth (academic/social/behavior) and reports monitoring data to Student Intervention Team
- Creates and maintains a classroom environment and culture that is inviting to students and conducive and appropriate to learning in both appearance and activities
- Establishes clear objectives and success criteria for all lessons, units, projects, etc., and communicates these objectives to students
- Develops and administers content-specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels
- Participates in the school and district-wide Social and Emotional Learning program and initiatives
Professionalism
- Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis
- Participates in professional development as directed, including but not limited to adult learning around the Science of Reading, differentiation, Model of Instruction, and other job-embedded curriculum development
- Continually builds personal capacity in understanding and using mathematical practices in instruction
- Participates in a growth mindset culture within the school commumity
- Participates in collegial and professional activities within the school and District, including but not limited to weekly team meetings for content and/or grade level team(s) within the school
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
- Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily
- Follows state, district, and school policies and expectations
- Maintains personal safety of students
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities daily
- Responds to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel
- Performs other duties as assigned
