Position: Staff Accountant/Business Office Manager
Location: Redstone Village, Huntsville, Alabama

We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Staff Accountant/Business Office Manager.
What You Will Do:
- Responsibilities:
- Timely and accurate financial reporting
- Assist with fixed assets, bank reconciliations, accrued expenses, journal entries, and FF&E for development projects
- Collect, analyze, and prepare accounts payable for data entry; review with Accounting Director before posting
- Record monthly journal entries and balance bank statements for all operating accounts
- Maintain spreadsheets for CIP projects and other tasks as assigned
- Data entry for accounts payable, cash receipts, resident billing items (e.g., Salon Charges, Guest Meals)
- Maintain electronic transaction registers and process weekly checks
- Assist with year-end audit schedules and update fixed asset roll-forward reports
- Accurate payroll processing
- Assist with the administration, employment, discipline, and discharge of staff
- Coordinate training for new and existing employees
- Oversee the functions of the business office, billing, accounts receivable, and payable processing, and bank deposits
- Post ledgers, reconcile individual resident accounts, and ensure compliance with the financial goals in the approved budget
- Assist in the development of operating and capital expenditure budgets for the community
- Participate in planning and implementing strategies for the efficient and effective operation of the community
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position reports directly to the Executive Director and is expected to perform independently with good judgment. The role supervises Concierge(s), including performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and employment decisions.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree a plus
- Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of managerial experience, ideally in accounting, bookkeeping, or office management
- Experience in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality preferred
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
- Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations and comprehend financial data
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Must demonstrate excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities
- Knowledge of accounting software, such as MatrixCare, PPC, and Lifecalc, a plus
- Experience in Medicare billing and benefits administration, and ability to learn new systems as needed
- Ability to interact with senior residents in a warm, friendly, and professional manner
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines efficiently
Physical Requirements:
- Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, turning, bending, stooping, crouching, and kneeling
- Ability to use hands for fine manipulation and grasping
