LOCATION: Greenbush Reformed Church (GRC), 688 Columbia Tpke, East Greenbush NY 12061
SUMMARY: The Greenbush Reformed Church, (“GRC”), seeks a dedicated and accomplished Church Music Director for this key part-time position. This role includes the Church Organist function as well as Director of the Music program. Expectations include providing inspiration through the music ministry in collaboration with the Pastor and Worship Committee. GRC is a warm, welcoming congregation open and accepting to all. With a small town feel, “where everyone knows your name”, our church has a strong focus and desire to maintain and enhance a vital and engaging music ministry, including a children’s and adult choir. The GRC congregation made a substantial faith commitment in purchasing a digital IV/106 Allen Organ (2019). The addition of this wonderful instrument has transformed our worship experience. Additional instruments include a baby grand with humidifier system and Roland digital piano in the Sanctuary.
Reports To: GRC Pastor
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES HIGHLIGHTS:
- Coordinate the GRC Music Ministry Program with the Pastor and Worship Committee planning for one weekly (Sunday Morning) Worship service and coordinating special music programming for worship services and events during the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter
- Direct the GRC Choirs, including the Chancel (Adult) and Youth Choirs. The Chancel Choir rehearses weekly for weekly service and special programming; organize and direct the Youth Choir through rehearsals and performances
- Provide instrumental accompaniment by playing the organ, piano, keyboard, or other musical instrument including not only the weekly Worship Service (Sunday) occasions, but also, following the Liturgical Calendar and for the Christian Education program performances in the Sanctuary
- General administrative duties including preparing an annual music budget, maintaining equipment in concert with the Property and Grounds Committee; maintaining a music library among others

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency at keyboard/organ.
- Proficiency at directing and organizing both GRC choirs.
- Experience with other instruments is desirable.
- Commitment to continuing education programs that will further enhance musical and worship
skills.
- Working familiarity with sacred and religious music.
- Ability to communicate with people of all ages, abilities, and function within the GRC.
COMPENSATION:
- Hours Per Week: This is a part-time flexible schedule to be negotiated on average up to 15 hours/week as the liturgical calendar dictates)
- Annual Base Salary (depending on experience and qualifications):
$17,940 ($23/hour) - $21,060 ($27/hour)
- Continuing Education Allowance: $1,500/year
- Paid Vacation: 4 weeks per year
- Paid Weeks for Continuing Ed.: 2 weeks/year

Experience
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a musical setting, such as conducting or directing ensembles.
- Strong background in music education or performance is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and educate musicians of varying skill levels.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey ideas and instructions.
- A passion for fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and growth among musicians.
