Job Summary:
The Director of Professional Learning and School Improvement oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of the professional learning, programming, and services related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and continuous school improvement. The Director works closely with educators, administrators, state leaders, and other stakeholders to identify strategies for academic advancement and the implementation of evidence-based, learning and leadership practices. Additionally, the Director plays a key role in leading, developing, and supervising Greenbush staff who are responsible for the professional learning of others, fostering a
high-performing environment where all team members are supported and empowered to excel. The person serving in this role will regularly collaborate with other leaders on the Greenbush Learning and Leadership Services Team, ensuring continuity of services that are aligned with the core values and mission of Greenbush as well as educational standards and practices that support improvement. The Director of Professional Learning and School Improvement is committed to fostering professional environments that promote effective and credible teaching, learning, and school improvement efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Valid driver’s license required for employment. REAL ID is required if air travel is necessary to complete job duties.
- Master’s Degree, preferably in Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, and/or Teacher Leader.
- Valid Kansas teaching license.
- Leadership and coaching experiences at a system level, whether that be as a building or district administrator, or serving as a current instructional leader with systems-level responsibilities.
- Knowledge of and leadership experiences with high-quality instruction, assessment, curriculum alignment, and State School Improvement and Accreditation processes.
- Ability to coordinate and deliver effective professional development, both in person and virtually.
Preferred:
- Kansas Building or District Administrator license.
- Experience in a district-level role with responsibilities for curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school improvement efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
Organizational Leadership and Development of Internal Staff:
- Lead and provide guidance for internal teams that makes certain everyone is working toward a common mission and is contributing to the success of the organization.
- Communicate and lead a vision for curriculum, instruction, assessment and school improvement services that are high-quality, evidence-based, and adaptable to needs within the field.
- Supervise and evaluate staff, ensuring that programming and services are relevant, meet high standards, and are credible.
- Monitor and assess the value and effectiveness of all professional learning and school improvement services.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as a resource to educators, administrators, and Greenbush staff members for matters related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school improvement.
- Establish strong relationships with external stakeholders, including other Service Centers, and KSDE constituents.
- Offer individual consultation and guidance for educators and administrators.
- Organize forums for networking, knowledge-sharing, and professional development.
- Help build networks between districts and with external partners.
- Collaborate with internal team members on marketing and hospitality for team events.
Organize and Provide Professional Learning
- Provide professional learning on matters related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school improvement and accreditation, including initiatives with KSDE, vendors, and school districts.
- Support the continuous growth and skill development of departmental staff members.
- Organize and collaborate to lead in-person and virtual forums designed to support instructional leaders.
- Gather, analyze, and use data to refine and adjust future professional learning initiatives and ensure they are meeting the intended outcomes.
- Organize, plan, coordinate, and facilitate internal and statewide events, including a Textbook and Materials fair, Greenbush University, and Instructional Leader Summits.
Operational Items:
- Manage the budgeting and allocation of resources and departmental purchase, billing, and reimbursement authorizations, ensuring efficient use of departmental funding.
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of procedures and policies that comply with state regulations and best practices.
- Utilize HR systems for tracking and approving leave balances, submitting leave requests, and ensuring proper documentation for absences.
- Utilize the registration system and collaborate with the hospitality team for scheduling, planning, and delivery of professional learning sessions.
- Approve department purchase and billing authorizations, reimbursements, and communicate with the business office on budgetary items.
