Incumbents are responsible for researching cultural and environmental topics to develop and instruct educational programs for the general public and schools. Duties include: presenting environmental education programs; constructing permanent or seasonal displays; performing daily maintenance of the nature center; answering questions from the general public by offering trail guides, suggestions, and other educational information; and researching natural history for presenting in programs; assisting with large event programs.HOURS OF WORK: Intermittent - Hours may vary; rotating schedule, may include week days, week nights, weekends, holidays and/or as needed by the activities and services provided by the department. Budgeted not to exceed 650 hours per year. CLASSIFICATION STATUS: This position is unclassified under ORC 124.11(A)(29). An unclassified employee is not included in the classified service, is exempt from all required examinations and serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority. Posted until filled.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
(These duties are illustrative only. Incumbents may perform some or all of these duties or other job-related duties as assigned.) Conducts natural and cultural history programs for organized groups and the general public. Creates, researches and organizes topical information and props for week long or half day programs and camps. Assists other staff and volunteers with natural and cultural history information.Provides verbal and non-verbal communication concerning programs, parks, agency mission and local natural and cultural history. Provides information for brochures, trail maps and other handouts. Assists park staff with park/program information distribution (e.g. meetings, brochures); answers questions from the general public. Cares for program animals.Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
