What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Trainer position at Greene County General Hospital?
Under the direction of a Physician or Physical Therapist, the Athletic Trainer provides sports medicine services to patients/athletes with the goal to treat and prevent orthopedic and athletic injuries. Will provide Certified Athletic Trainer services to local athletes and sports teams during practices and events as well as in the clinic setting.

Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training;Master’s degree preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Licensed Athletic Trainer in Indiana in good standing. Current CPR Certification.
Experience: One year of related work experience preferred; Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements: Standing, sitting, walking; transferring and/or lifting patients or equipment.Frequent bending, stooping and reaching. Good hearing and vision. May occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the treatment and monitoring of minor athletic injuries and conditions
- Collaborates in establishing athletic training and sports medicine services and plan of care; coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient/athlete care needs across the continuum.
- Assesses patients to determine modifications of therapy and treatment needs in consultation with physician or physical therapist.
- Develops exercise programs to address patient’s short and long-term goals
- Educates patients regarding exercise program, health needs and risks.
- Completes appropriate documentation including reports, treatments and discharge summaries in a timely manner.
- Responsible for the safe operation, cleaning and inventory of all athletic training supplies and equipment used in the clinic; Coordinates supplies used in the schools.
- Responsible for referring athletic injuries to physician for diagnosis and treatment.
- Actively engages in marketing and community educational programs
- Communicates effectively with athletic directors, coaches, student athletes and parents.
- Assist with developing and monitoring Quality measures.
- Protects patients by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
- Protects patient confidentiality.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
