Mental Health Specialist (HELP Program) $33.39 hourly (Grade 15, Step 0)
Mental Health Specialist II (HELP Program) $35.97 hourly (Grade 16, Step 0)
Senior Mental Health Specialist (HELP Program) $38.57 hourly (Grade 17, Step 0)

These are Non-competitive appointments under the Hiring Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program.

Appointments will mature into permanent positions, upon the successful completion of a 52-week probationary period.

Mental Health Specialist (HELP Program) This is an entry-level position with the Greene County Mental Health Clinic. The incumbent in this position provides a full range of psychotherapy, counseling, case management or social work services to clients in a community mental health setting. The team Clinical Coordinator or Clinical Director of Mental Health provides clinical supervision with wide leeway allowed for the use of independent judgment and initiative on a case-by-case basis. The incumbent in this position will also be responsible for providing coverage for satellite locations when needed. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and EITHER :

Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s Degree in Social Work; OR

Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy; OR

Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling; OR

Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s Degree in Psychology and possession of current Licensure in Mental Health Counseling (LMHC); OR

Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Clinical Master’s Degree from a psychiatric / mental health nursing program AND current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the NYS Department of Education; OR

Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing; AND three (3) years of post-degree professional nursing experience in mental health or psychiatric nursing involving direct patient contact AND current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the NYS Department of Education.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT : Candidates holding only a Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling must obtain the following within six (6) months of appointment to be eligible for permanent appointment : Licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensure for Marriage and Family Therapy, Licensure for Mental Health Counseling (LMHC) issued by the NYS Department of Education.

Mental Health Specialist II (HELP Program) This is an entry-level or accelerated grade (based on licensure) position with the Greene County Mental Health Clinic. The incumbent in this position provides a full range of psychotherapy, counseling, case management or social work services to clients in a community mental health setting. The team Clinical Coordinator or Clinical Director of Mental Health provides clinical supervision with wide leeway allowed for the use of independent judgment and initiative on a case-by-case basis. The incumbent in this position will also be responsible for providing coverage for satellite locations when needed. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and EITHER :

Possession of a Master’s degree in Social Work AND current Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); OR

Possession of a Clinical Master’s degree from a psychiatric / mental health nursing program AND current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the NYS Department of Education;

Senior Mental Health Specialist (HELP Program) This senior level position involves the responsibility of providing a full range of psychotherapy, counseling, case management or social work services to clients in a Community Mental Health setting. This position differs from that of the Mental Health Specialist and Mental Health Specialist II in that the incumbent is provided considerable leeway to perform tasks and make clinical decisions with a lesser degree of direct clinical supervision as the incumbent has demonstrated the clinical training, experience and insight to serve more acute and / or complicated caseloads. Work will be performed under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator or Clinical Director of Mental Health. Supervision will be a responsibility of this position . The incumbent in this position will also be responsible for providing coverage for satellite locations when needed. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and Either :

Possession of a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology. The Doctoral degree must have been granted on the basis of completion of a program of Psychology registered with the New York State Department of Education or the substantial equivalent thereof in accordance with the New York State Commissioner of Education’s regulations and current licensure as a Psychologist issued by the New York State Department of Education; OR

Possession of a Master’s degree in Social Work, possession of clinical licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) AND three (3) years of approved supervised experience post LCSW credentialing status; OR

Possession of a Clinical Master’s degree from a psychiatric / mental health nursing program AND current licensure as a Certified Master’s Registered Nurse by the NYS Department of Education and three (3) years of experience involving direct patient contact in this field;

NOTE : Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education / US Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. Additional Special Requirement : Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license is required at time of appointment and this license must be maintained throughout employment.
