Provides basic training and technical support to end users regarding Geographic Information Systems, related hardware, software, and application operations.Full Time : Monday - Friday Duties / Responsibilities
- Land record data creation and maintenance to enhance the County's GIS system;
- Producing and designing maps for the public, other departments and other organizations;
- Checking and verifying legal descriptions for real estate conveyance;
- Creation and maintenance of multiple GIS layers including tax parcels, road centerlines, addresses, subdivisions etc...
- Provide addressing assignments by owner request and new developments within Greene County;
- Capturing GIS data using GPS, electronic data recorders and other electronic means;
- Downloading, converting and uploading GIS data from other sources to make them usable;
- Cataloging of GIS data to include metadata creation;
- Perform spatial analysis and geo-processing as required;
- Evaluate GIS development and application proposals and assessing the feasibility of projects;
- Follow quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes, and perform routine data management tasks, such as data validation and correction, queries and editing in GIS to ensure GIS data accuracy, integrity, and completeness;
- Develop new applications to solve real world problems and train others on their use; Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Geography; or AA degree with GIS Certification from accredited college or university; or high school diploma with 3 years of increasingly responsible experience with GIS;

- Ability to gather, aggregate and process data from multiple sources including Excel, Oracle and SQL Server databases;
- A strong understanding of ArcGIS Online capabilities that include map making, utilization, collaboration, analyzing, and data exploration;
- Provide excellent customer service skills and communicate clearly and objectively both verbally and in writing;
- Ability to define problems, establish facts, and create valid logical solutions to address issues;
- Understanding of cadastral mapping and surveying principles;
- Ability to read and interpret legal descriptions, deeds, survey data, tract descriptions and existing maps;
- Have a strong attention to detail while performing assigned tasks or projects.Knowledge of :
- Cartographic principals and design techniques for both digital and printed map creation;
- Principles of hardware and software installation, testing, and operation for GIS applications;
- Research methods and techniques related to collecting, analyzing, and evaluating geographic / land use related data;
