The Baillie Group Davenport, NY location is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Log Deck Operator to join our sawmill team. This position plays a crucial role in the initial processing of logs, ensuring quality and efficiency in our production process.
Log Deck Operator Responsibilities:
- Work in a safe manner and strictly follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Inspect logs as they enter the sawmill process and clean log ends using high-pressure water as needed.
- Use a company-provided chainsaw to trim log ends to remove defects when necessary.
- Stand for extended periods while performing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area by removing debris and waste from trimming operations.
- Follow training guidelines and instructions to ensure efficient operation and quality control.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and work in compliance with company policies.
- Comfortable working on your feet for long periods.
- Willingness to learn and be trained in all aspects of the position.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- Prior experience with chainsaws or sawmill operations is a plus but not required.
- Anticipated Minimum – Anticipated Maximum Pay - $17-$19/hour*
- Full time hours 6am -4:00 pm
- Overtime hours and Pay
- Monday - Friday
- On-the-job training provided – experience a plus, but not necessary
