Greene Resources is seeking a Accounting Manager to join a growing and dynamic team!
Job Description:
Financial Reporting and Budgeting:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and board review.
- Develop and manage the budgeting process, providing financial forecasts and analysis to ensure financial goals are met.
- Monitor and reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy and proper classification of transactions.
Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other relevant regulations (e.g., IRS Form 990).
- Assist with the preparation of federal, state, and local tax filings.
- Coordinate external audits and manage the preparation of necessary audit documentation.
Internal Controls and Financial Procedures:
- Develop and implement internal controls and accounting procedures to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Review and recommend improvements to accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping in line with financial standards and legal requirements.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Manage and mentor the accounting team, providing goal setting, performance appraisals, and professional development support.
- Collaborate with departments such as legal, operations, and executive leadership to align financial operations with organizational objectives.
- Participate in senior management meetings to provide insights on financial trends, challenges, and opportunities.
Grant and Funds Management:
- Oversee grant and restricted fund accounting, ensuring proper tracking and reporting in compliance with grant terms.
- Handle quarterly reporting to government agencies.
- Work closely with operations staff to ensure financial reporting milestones are met accurately and on time.
Position Requirements:
- Experience supervising an accounting team preferred
- Public accounting experience is a plus
- University experience is advantageous
- Proficient with accounting software; experience with Sage Intacct is a plus
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, for financial analysis and reporting
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and US GAAP
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with staff at all levels
- Willingness to work extended hours as needed (e.g., during year-end close)
Preferred Skills & Certification:
- CPA or equivalent certification is preferred
- Experience managing audits and collaborating with external auditors
- Knowledge of grant management and reporting is beneficial
- Experience in non-profit or consortia organizations is a plus
- Familiarity with federal grant compliance and cooperative agreement processes is advantageous
