SALARY RANGE: Rank: Assistant Professor with a Master's Degree or Equivalent: Salary range $75,232 to $80,232. Actual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with the MCCC collective bargaining agreement provisions.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Join our dynamic team as a Nursing Faculty Member in the Associate Degree Nursing program, where you'll play a key role in shaping the next generation of nurses. In this position, you will provide engaging classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction across a range of essential courses, including Fundamentals of Nursing, Family Nursing (obstetrical and pediatric nursing), and more. You will also mentor approximately 15 ADN and Nursing Intent students, offering academic advisement and fostering their growth through regular office hours.
As a valued member of our department, you will collaborate closely with faculty in delivering an innovative nursing curriculum, contributing to course delivery schedules, and participating in the ongoing development of the program. Additionally, you'll have opportunities to serve on committees, attend department and college meetings, and engage in accreditation and program evaluation activities. THE ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING PROGRAM:
The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program at Greenfield Community College is a distinguished and comprehensive educational experience designed to prepare students for success in the modern healthcare landscape. Under the leadership of the Assistant Dean of Nursing, the program is supported by a dedicated team of six full-time faculty members, seven to eight clinical adjunct instructors, and a full-time administrative assistant shared with the Practical Nursing program. This collaborative team is committed to fostering a learning environment focused on excellence in nursing education.
The ADN program is highly regarded in the region, with a strong track record of graduates consistently exceeding national NCLEX pass rates for both ADN and BSN candidates. The curriculum is designed to cultivate technical proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and applied nursing skills, ensuring graduates are ready to meet the challenges of today's healthcare environments. In addition to classroom and clinical instruction, the program enriches the learning experience through service-learning opportunities, high-fidelity patient simulations, and web-enhanced courses.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teaches nursing courses in the appropriate content areas;
- Teaches and directs learning opportunities for students in college classrooms, on-campus skills and simulation lab, and clinical cooperating agencies;
- Evaluates student achievement in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings;
- Provides support and guidance to part-time instructors working with assigned courses and agencies;
- Counsels nursing students in relation to achievement of program objectives, time management, and retention strategies and documents all interactions with students;
- Contributes to the development of nursing program policies, procedures, and nursing education opportunities;
- May assist with coordination service-learning programs;
- Identifies and supports students in clinical and academic situations, and refers students to appropriate campus resources;
- Assists students in the development of a thorough understanding of the nurse's role in contemporary nursing practice;
- Demonstrates professional role modeling for nursing students and encourages them to pursue higher levels of nursing education;
- Develops and reviews the educational philosophy, purposes and objectives of the program;
- Organizes, develops and evaluates the nursing curriculum
- Develops, implements and evaluates policies pertaining to courses and nursing program
- Makes recommendations regarding deployment of personnel and uses of facilities essential to meeting objectives;
- Develops specific criteria and related methods for the evaluation of student achievement of program and course objectives;
- Serves on college committees as elected and/or assigned;
- Contributes to a positive, respectful, and collaborative learning and work environment;
- Contributes to program, assessment activities including accreditation, the systematic evaluation plan, and year-end reporting;
- Participates in team and program meetings and college-wide meetings;
- Maintains records and reports in accordance with established program policies;
- Maintains scheduled office hours in accordance with college policy;
- Maintains collegial relationships with the staff and administration of affiliating clinical facilities;
- Participates in ongoing professional study and education;
- Maintains current registration as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (and Vermont as indicated);
- Maintains all mandatory health requirements
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE*:
- Possess an earned Master of Science Degree in Nursing;
- Eligibility for RN licensure in Massachusetts (and/or Vermont as needed);
- Minimum of two years full-time clinical experience in nursing, or its equivalent, within the last five years and evidence of clinical competence;
- Current American Heart Association cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification;
- Current malpractice insurance;
- Instructional experience in the college or clinical setting;
- Experience with technology in student learning situations, including nursing-specific technology and platforms to enhance student learning;
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting cultural competency and diversity within the curriculum and the profession with record of performance that demonstrates respect for diversity, equity and inclusion; and
- Proficiency in oral and written communication, including basic computer skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph. D. in nursing, nursing education, DNP or related field;
- Demonstrated community college teaching experience, preferably classroom teaching experience;
- Demonstrated experience with curriculum and course design and evaluation of program outcomes;
- Demonstrated community nursing experience and knowledge of holistic health practices;
- Demonstrated experience in various practice settings across the wellness-illness continuum; or with diverse populations;
- Demonstrated experience, or knowledge, of high-fidelity patient simulation and other modes of technology; and
- Specialty Certification in Medical Surgical, Pediatric, Obstetrical, Psychiatric, Public Health, or Intensive Care Nursing; or Nursing Education; or Simulation for Nursing.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Applicants selected for an interview will be required to present a teaching demonstration to an audience that may include students.
