What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional Instructor(s) position at Greenfield Community College?
This is a short term, non-benefitted, grant-funded position.
GCC's Office of Workforce Development seeks Instructor(s) for the Paraprofessional training program.
The instructor will ensure adult students receive career readiness training to enter the education field in
an entry-level role, as well as basic skills, Para Pro test preparation, and occupational skills training that
prepares students for positions as Paraprofessional in classrooms ranging from Early Childhood through
grade 12. The Workforce Development Instructor(s) reports to the Dean of Workforce Development and
works closely with the Resource Navigator and Coach/Mentors.
Hours: 8:30am - 3pm, Mon - Thurs
Dates: June 30 - August 7, 2025 (plus three "Train the Trainer" dates in late June to meet and prepare
for the program with the full team, including Navigator and mentors/coaches)
Rate: $50/hour
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for course preparation, delivery, grading, and records management. (Note: GCC has
- curriculum and instructional materials prepared for the lead instructor's use.)
- Oversee and coordinate with the coaches/mentors to ensure curriculum continuity in the
- Community of Practice and mentorship components of the program
- Provide training to participants in the classroom in the Paraprofessional curriculum and Para Pro
- exam preparation, including life skills, workplace survival skills, occupational skills training, and
- other skills required to secure and retain employment
- Evaluate and grade participant progress and deliverables during workshops, ensuring positive
- student outcomes, ensuring instruction meets the needs of students, ensuring instruction leads
- to positive program outcomes and ensuring instruction leads to the employment of graduates.
- Evaluate workshop participants' progress to determine work readiness and suitability for
- progression in the program
- Integrate digital and web tools, and instructional technology (Google Classroom, specifically) to
- enhance instruction and to strengthen participants' digital literacy
Essential Duties:
- Plan, organize, and instruct non-credit courses
- Deliver each class to ensure an effective learning experience
- Maintain a high level of competence and expertise in the field or subject area
- Incorporate current teaching techniques, subject area developments, and current technology (if
- applicable) into the learning experience
- Provide classroom instruction in accordance with approved course outlines
- Provide for effective evaluation of the learning experience of each student
- Demonstrate effective people skills, communication skills, and work ethic (i.e. preparation and
- punctuality)
- Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the mission and goals of the community
- college
- Perform additional essential job functions that are unique to the instructor position and/or
- teaching field
- Ensure learning outcomes and assessment and improvement of student learning
- Support a diverse population of learners
- Work in a participatory and collegial setting
- Support continuous improvement of curricula and services
- Plan each unit or lesson, as to content, method, and organization to make each class period

- Ensure that assigned classes are held as scheduled

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor Degree with specialized coursework in field
- Three (3) years of full-time work experience as a practitioner in field
- Good verbal and written communication skills

Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from a variety of
educational, cultural, and social backgrounds - Must meet all employability requirements of the college
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPI Certified Instructor
- Para Pro Certification
- Master's Degree
BACKGROUND CHECK: Candidates will be required to pass a Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check as a condition of employment.
