Occupational Therapist Responsibilities:
- Conducting initial and ongoing evaluations of residents' physical, cognitive, and emotional capabilities.
- Identifying barriers to independence and daily functioning.
- Creating customized occupational therapy programs tailored to each resident’s goals, abilities, and health conditions.
- Addressing challenges in areas such as mobility, self-care, and social participation.
- Helping residents recover from injuries, surgeries, or illnesses through targeted occupational therapy exercises and techniques.
- Assisting in managing chronic conditions such as arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, or stroke recovery.
- The occupational therapist provides interventions to improve performance with tasks like bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
- Recommending and training in the use of adaptive equipment.
- Conducting cognitive exercises to enhance memory, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Supporting emotional well-being through stress management techniques and leisure activities.
- Assessing living spaces to recommend modifications for safety and accessibility.
- Advising on ergonomic furniture, grab bars, or other assistive devices.
- Educating residents and staff on fall prevention techniques.
- Implementing balance and coordination exercises to reduce the risk of falls.
- Providing guidance to families and caregivers on supporting residents' independence.
- Offering training on using assistive devices or understanding therapy goals.
- Coordinating with nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participating in care planning meetings to ensure a holistic approach to residents’ well-being.
- Maintaining accurate records of assessments, treatments, and progress.
- The occupational therapist ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and community policies.

Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school with a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy.
- License as required by the State of Wisconsin to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
