Utilities Forklift Driver PM Shift

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Operates forklifts to stack and retrieve supplies and materials. Responsibilities also include documenting and maintaining inventory and ensuring production area organization and cleanliness. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
• Obeys all Cal/OSHA guidelines and regulations
• Ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
• Fill out pre-start up forklift inspection form- Report any issues to your immediate supervisor
• Connect forklift batteries to a battery charger.
• Handles, transports and unloads freight in an accurate manner using a variety of material handling equipment.
• Ensures that daily inspections of equipment are completed before utilization.
• Maintains clear and open communication with management.
• General warehouse duties as needed.
• Ensure facility maintenance through general housekeeping practices, keeping freight secure and maintaining the assets of the facility.
• Perform a combination of the following duties including but not limited to:
• Must follow product rotation procedures, and organization while using internal day code system
  Inspect all trailers before loading for any issues (ie damage, torn chute, foul smell)
• Enforce and actively participate in general housekeeping duties and debris removal in order to reduce the risk of potential accidents and hazardous conditions.
• Maintain neat, orderly and safe stack of stocks in the warehouse.
• Coordinate with other lift truck drivers and production personnel to process orders efficiently.
• Load trailers safely and properly while using standard loading procedures / patterns without damaging produce, boxes, or trailer equip
• Document on loading manifest the exact quantities of all commodities loaded into trailer, as well as any additional services performed (ie stacking, bagging, and corner boarding)
• Follow safe operating procedures.
• Monitored ther area for pedestrian and vehicular traffic while operating forklift.
• Maneuvered forklift safely in congested and confirmed areas.
• Service and make minor adjustments to the forklift
• Must be able to work flexible hours in a cold environment (33 Deg F / 1 Deg C)
• Practice the honor system be forthright and honest under all circumstances
• Suggest opportunities for improvement.
• Only pull daughter tags for product that are the forks of the forklift. Do Not pull more daughter tags from pallets that are not being handled. Load pallets that have daughter tags pulled off and report it on the loading schematics

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• 2 years previous experience operating a forklift.

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATION/FORMAL TRAINING:

• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
• Forklift Certification a plus
• Must complete GreenGate Fresh Forklift Training and Certification course.

• Ability to read, write and understand forklift instructions and safety materials
• Sense of urgency and self-motivation; ability to work independently
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Attendance is key.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged sitting.
• Ability to work in both indoor warehouse environment as well as outdoors regardless of weather.
• Hand dexterity and strength.
• May be required to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Work performed outdoors and indoors a refrigerated warehouse/production environment
• May involve working outdoors in inclemate weather
• May involve exposure to exhaust fumes and/or other chemical fumes such as Chlorine.

REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

• Must wear required personal protective equipment : safety vest, helmet, hair net, beard net (if applicable).
