Description
SUMMARY
The school seeks an athletic trainer to collaborate with and work closely with our current athletic trainers, coaches, and faculty within the Athletics Program.
This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. Some evening and weekend work is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Athletic Trainer's primary responsibility is to provide the prevention and care of athletic injuries in a supporting role to the coaching staff;
Administers primary clinical evaluations and subsequent treatment and rehabilitation programs;
Partners with the Athletic Department regarding on-field protocol such as (but not limited to) emergency action plans (EAPs), severe weather plans, concussion protocol, etc;
Attend practice sessions and athletic contests primarily for Middle School. Upper School event coverage as needed.
Verifies, reviews, and organizes student physicals, health records, and parental release forms in conjunction with school health personnel;
Early morning, evening, and weekend hours are required during the sporting seasons.
Requirements
Qualifications and Education Requirements :
A bachelor's degree or higher; certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA); licensed, or eligible, by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR); and current AED / CPR certification.
Physical requirements include lifting (up to 75 pounds), carrying, driving, climbing, the ability to move distances within and between buildings and fields, and the ability to work in extreme heat and cold temperatures;
Administration of therapeutic modalities and the knowledge of indications and contraindications;
Hands on involvement with rehabilitation process by performing a variety of treatments and rehabilitation procedures consistent with Orthopedic care;
Maintain a professional code of ethics and be a positive role model for students;
Additional requirements include outstanding interpersonal skills; the ability to exercise independent judgment, prioritize and complete work with minimal supervision; and work closely as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
