SUMMARY
This position functions as part of the Tax Team serving as a contact for tax information requests from the organization, clients, and engaged CPAs. Responsible for facilitation of client tax reporting through use of the Tax Controls program. Completion of various monthly and ad-hoc projects requested by the Tax Officer, Senior Tax Officer, and Director or Assistant Director of Operations. This role will evolve over time and this individual will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility.
YOUR ROLE IN SERVING OUR CLIENTS AND ASSISTING DIVISIONS INCLUDES:
Tax Operations
- Facilitate the processing of all tax documentation to clients, CPAs and tax authorities for proper filing.
- Facilitate the dissemination of various reporting and tax returns for mailing to clients and filing with the Internal Revenue Service and/or appropriate taxing authority.
- Ensure transactions are posted to our trust accounting system in accordance with appropriate tax codes and explanations.
- Perform ongoing tax maintenance throughout the year through the completion of monthly, quarterly and requested internal data integrity checks.
- Manage document retention requirements for all tax processes according to industry guidelines.
- Manage the Gifting process for clients.
- Assist with entry, review, and response of tax notices received from Internal Revenue Service and/or state taxing authority.
- Serve as a contact for tax information requests (internal and external).
- Respond to and complete any other ad-hoc tax requests from the organization and clients.
Other Accountabilities
- Participation in designated work groups and projects as assigned.
- Identify and drive forward opportunities for process improvement and innovation
- At various times (quarterly, spring/fall tax season, year-end, and related to special projects), there may be a need to work in excess of 40 hours per week which on occasion may include a holiday.
- All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or similar and minimum 1 year of operations experience in a financial services environment or equivalent education and experience desired.
- Tax experience helpful.
- Desire to advance knowledge through education, certifications and designations.
TALENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, and Excel applications.
- Familiarity with Northern Trust and/or Broadridge reporting software and OneSource Trust Tax, or similar systems, helpful.
