Qualifications:
- Education: Registered Nurse (RN) degree; additional training in wound care preferred.
- Licensure/Certifications:
- Current RN license in New Mexico.
- Certification in wound care (e.g., Wound Care Certified (WCC), Certified Wound Specialist (CWS).
- Experience: Proven experience in wound care management, including chronic and acute wounds.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in wound assessment, debridement techniques, advanced dressings, and documentation.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, empathy, patient education skills, and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate wounds (e.g., pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds) to determine treatment plans.
- Perform wound debridement, dressing changes, and application of specialized therapies (e.g., negative pressure wound therapy).
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on proper wound care techniques and prevention strategies.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and physical therapists to coordinate holistic patient care.
- Monitor and document wound healing progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of wound assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
