Summary
The Lead Aircraft Mechanic oversees the maintenance tasks in the service, repair, and overhaul of aircraft to insure airworthiness. Ensures timely completion of tasks and provides training and mentorship for an assigned function area. Assists with Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities for short periods of time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
General
- Leads the maintenance, preventative maintenance, or alteration of, or approve and return to service, any aircraft, or part thereof, only for which that Lead is rated and has satisfactorily performed the work concerned at an earlier date.
- Oversees and co-signs for uncertified mechanics in accordance with the GTI RSM procedures.
- Ensures all tasks are promptly completed in compliance with federal regulations, customer guidelines and company policies.
- Reviews required customer and FAA paperwork to ensure proper maintenance updates and compliance with applicable regulations and customer requirements.
- Trouble shoots landing gear, flight control, engines, hydraulic and air-conditioning systems.
- Repairs, modifies, replaces, or otherwise performs routine and non-routine aircraft maintenance work.
- Uses technical data to order parts and ensure material is effective for aircraft being installed on.
- Recognizes unsafe conditions and takes immediate corrective action.
- Conducts crew meetings to ensure communication regarding work, safety, and quality.
- Facilitates On-the-Job Training (OJT) to provide learning opportunities through work assignment and mentoring.
- Communicates effectively with other maintenance personnel at all levels by keeping co-workers and leadership apprised of work progress and difficulties as they arise.
- Help with general clean-up of work area.
- Responsible for accurately clocking to jobs.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Effective and appropriate conduct with co-workers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competencies
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies :
Summary of Education, Experience & Certification
High School education or equivalent. Minimum four (4) years of recent commercial / military aircraft maintenance and / or MRO experience preferred. Applicable Repairman, Airframe, or Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification required.
Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company / foreign government / foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The expected WA salary range for this position is between $68,000.00 - $93,000.00 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, location, and other factors permitted by law.
