Brief Description
A General Assembler performs parts and material installation and assembly tasks per written and verbal work instructions.
Responsibilities
- Performs installations and assembles parts according to special written work instructions, routings, blueprints and verbal directives.
- Cleans, assembles, disassembles and replaces parts as required.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment and optimizes space utilization.
- Communicates and cooperates with supervisors and coworkers.
- Operates and maintains shop equipment.
- Follows quality service standards and complies with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Keeps production supervisor advised of work status, workload, problems and progress as related to work assignments.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of related experience.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Reading and basic math skills; ability to understand verbal and written work instructions.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Skilled in use of hand tools, shop tools, equipment and measuring devices.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures; machinery and forklift experience are preferred.
- Manufacturing and/or automotive experience preferred.
- Willingness to travel if required.
- Willingness to attend education training and classes.
- Must be able to pass a preemployment drug screening.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb and crawl.
- Frequent use of hand tools and materials which may create repetitive hand motion.
- Regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs.; frequently lift and move up to 30 lbs., and occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to see and adjust visual focus both up-close and at a distance; position requires peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to see and distinguish colors.

Work Environment
- Exposure to high levels of noise.
- Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots and hardhats.
- Required to drive and may at times work outdoors.
- Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

Education & Training:
Qualified candidates will receive on the job training and will be required to attend education and training classes at BridgeValley Community & Technical College.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation for this position will be in the range of $18 TO $20 per hour. Qualified candidates will be paid for a 40-hour work week, working four, 10-hour shifts while attending classes at BridgeValley on either Mondays or Fridays.
