Job Summary
The Crew Lead-Driver will work closely with the superintendent to lead the crew to complete field work for customers, along with driving a work truck to and from the worksite. They are responsible for the work and conduct of the crew to which the crew leader is assigned. The crew leader is expected to be an example and to lead as such.
Duties & Functions
- Maintain construction schedules with the superintendent.
- Drive Company work truck to and from worksites, obeying traffic laws.
- Meet periodically with each crew member to ensure that they understand proper and safe company practices.
- These meetings may include but are not limited to instructions on safety guidelines, proper field procedures, correctly filling out time sheets and work sheets among other items.
- Correctly fill out time sheets and work sheets that contain necessary information for the superintendent and office staff needs in order to invoice the work and complete payroll.
- Review the status of the equipment for their crew. If this equipment is not properly maintained, he or she will identify what needs to be addressed and work with the superintendent and mechanics to make sure proper maintenance or repair is performed as soon as possible. This ensures company efficiency and improves company profitability and machine uptime.
Qualifications & Standards
- A valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurance requirements for past driving record (Required)
- Maintain and encourage good relationships with the crew and with the customer’s field staff.
- Professionally represent the company as he or she interacts with the superintendent, customers, office and field staff, and with the vice president.
- Serve as an example to the crew of integrity, ingenuity, and honesty.
- Never ask anything of his or her crew that he or she is not willing to do themselves.
- The crew leader will always adhere to company safety guidelines and ensure that those whom he or she leads will also follow these guidelines.
