What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard Shift Leader position at Greensboro Country Club?
I. POSITION: Shift Leader
II. DEPARTMENT: Aquatics
III. JOB SUMMARY: Shift Leaders are responsible for ensuring the safety of Club members and guests by providing a safe and clean environment, preventing, and responding to emergencies, and offering a fun and best in class member experience. Shift Leaders will also overlook all aquatics employees on shift to make sure operations are running accordingly.
IV. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees, manages, and holds accountable all lifeguards on shift to ensure job duties are being performed up to par and to ensure the safety of the aquatics area.
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies the safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatics area as per Greensboro Country Club standards.
- Knows, understands, and can teach all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with Greensboro Country Club policies and procedures. Maintains accurate records as needed.
- Attends all staff meetings and trainings.
- Reports back to Aquatics Manager about staff and maintenance performance.
- Maintains positive relationships with the members, participants, and other staff.
- Models' relationship building skills in all interactions.
- Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
V. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the start date.
- Demonstrates leadership, customer service and decision-making skills
- Attentiveness to visual and audible cues for recognition and identification of swimmers in distress or in process of unsafe behaviors
- Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
- Administer First Aid, CPR, emergency, and other safety procedures, as required.
- Proficient swimming ability
VI. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer
- 2 year(s) experience as a lifeguard preferred.
- 1 year(s) experience managing others or leading a team
VII. REPORTS TO: Aquatics Manager
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 6-8-hour shifts
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
