Job Purpose
A member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Dean of Campus Life provides strategic direction and delivers relevant programming designed to strengthen the sense of belonging and school spirit for all PK-12 students on campus.
The Dean of Campus Life models the GDS Community Cornerstones of Respect, Kindness, Integrity, and Responsibility.
Primary Responsibilities

Work environment for this position can include sedentary and confined to an office, external professional development that may require travel, and active participation in school events. Extended work hours are common. Occasional weekend and evening work for school events will be necessary at times. The noise level in this work environment is moderate to high.
Physical Requirements
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry (ability to lift up to 50 pounds), push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Primary Responsibilities
- Applies a strategic lens as a thought leader in collaboration with the Head of School & Associate Head of School for People and Program to inform campus life programming and opportunities that promote and strengthen school spirit, inclusion, and belonging for all students PK-12
- Oversees and serves as the point person for all-school PK-12 community programs such as Bengal Games, Bengal BIGs, the Senior Kindergarten Buddy Program, spirit weeks, and all-school assemblies
- Works collaboratively with the counseling department to design and implement campus life programming and inform the curriculum framework for Character and Citizenship based on data themes gathered from the annual Authentic Connections student wellbeing and belonging survey in addition to GDS student citizenship trends
- Oversees K-12 new student orientation program in collaboration with the division directors and facilitates a new student authentic connection group in the middle & upper school communities in collaboration with key leadership colleagues
- Facilitates a cross-divisional student council committee for grades 4-12 to design spirit cup activities and continuously improve the student campus experience
- Works collaboratively with the Athletic Director and division directors to plan community tailgates and all-school athletic team send-offs for milestone performances
- Chairs the faculty and staff inclusion and belonging committee to gather ideas and feedback that inform monthly cultural heritage assemblies
- Serve as the point person for implementing the annual community cornerstone pledge Ceremony in the lower, middle and upper school communities
- Works collaboratively with division directors and counselors to develop and integrate community cornerstone lessons in community assemblies
- Maintains a visible presences in the preschool, lower, middle and upper school communities
- In collaboration with the division directors and the middle & upper school deans of student life, oversee the design of a student citizenship dashboard and annual reporting plan for trends, goal setting, measurable metrics
- Serve as a resource and provides guidance to division directors and division student life deans to support their management of student citizenship challenges
- Advises the marketing department about story sharing opportunities related to student life
- Serves as a member of the Executive and Strategic Leadership Teams
- Manages the Student Life budget
- Serves on the Student Retention Committee, Academic Affairs Committee, Financial Aid Committee, and the Board of Trustee Committee for Diversity and Belonging
- Is a visible presence during morning carpool support alongside leadership colleagues
- Leads the design and implementation process of student authentic connection groups related to interest, identity, and other common connection points for students
- In collaboration with the Upper School division director, manages the student recruitment for SDLC and other student leadership opportunities inside and outside the Triad community
- Volunteer in the preschool and lower school on occasion as a guest speaker in assembly or guest reader in the classroom to get to know the younger student population
- Participates in one grade level (grades 5-12) Building Community Retreat (BCR) annually
- Facilities student access to the Wellness Center (opening spring 2026)
- Serves as the point person for international students in the Upper School conducting frequent check-ins and liaising with their respective advisors
- Attends extracurricular arts and athletic events
- Teaches a single course as needed (CLEAR Lab course, Winter Term, or other)
- Serves as a role model to faculty and staff through active participation and leadership opportunities in professional organizations, reading professional publications, and maintaining professional learning networks
