Position Description
The Business Developer is to develop new business for the branch and oversees initial interaction with the customers and keeps them informed as to all aspects of the proposal process. The Business Developer makes the initial contact with the prospect, prepares and presents the proposal documents, completes the sale, interfaces with company production and accounting personnel, and communicates with subcontractors and vendors as required throughout the first three months of the contract. The Business Developer is also to achieve the annual budget and business development goals of the Branch while maintaining a professional, ethical, and safe corporate atmosphere.
The Business Developer is a member of the Green Team and as such understands and upholds
• Company mission and vision statement, leadership principles, and company core values;
• All safety standards pertaining to job responsibilities in accordance with Greenscape policies; and
• All company policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and/or other company documents.

Skill set and Educational requirements
• Three years of combined commercial landscape production and sales experience (preferred)
• An associate degree or higher preferred
• Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel
• Proficient in or able to learn Aspire operating software
• Proficient in or able to learn www.goilawn.com software
• Possess excellent computer skills
• Able to make effective presentations to potential clients using technology to create professional displays
• Able to hit sales goals for commercial projects annually
• Able to represent the company in a courteous and professional manner
• Is a high-energy individual capable of building and maintaining professional relationships with potential clients, associations, and related business professionals
• Able to effectively network with related business professionals and look for opportunities to do so

Responsibilities
• Responsible for hitting sales goals
• Attends client meetings (homeowner’s association (HOA), board of directors’ (BOD) meetings, etc.) as needed
• Attends professional association meetings such as Building Owners and Managers Association Intl. (BOMA), etc…
• Makes initial contact with client and takes all required measurements
• Ensures that vendor pricing is competitive and accurate
• Prepares all proposals/bids
• Makes effective presentations and presents all proposals/documents to client
• Closes sale and coordinates job specifics with Branch Manager
• Interfaces with client and ensures that all client’s concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner
• Ensures that job cost reports are properly analyzed and disseminated
• Maintains Bid Board and tracks sales process
• Maintains and updates CRM software on a daily basis re: deadlines, meetings, notes, points of contact, phone conversations, etc.
• Thoroughly understands and complies with company policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Assists in the development and implementation of the company’s marketing plan
Quality Control
• Presents Greenscape quality expectations and standards to employees
• Makes recommendations to Manager on ways to improve quality standards for clients
and employees
Client Relations
• Communicates professionally with clients and relays all pertinent information back to manager.
• Responds to request in a timely fashion
• Leaves job site in a neat clean appearance
• Speaks well of Client and Team
Personnel Development
• Desires to grow professionally and seeks to improve personal skill set
• Seeks out other professionals with whom to network
• Accepts and appreciates correctional input/feedback from fellow staff members
Administrative
• Let the Manager know when inventory supplies are low and need to be reordered
• Insures that crew adheres to Greenscape uniform/dress code
• Upholds all Greenscape policies and core values, supporting branch vision and performs
Accordingly.
Special Notes Licenses and Certifications
• A class “C” driver’s license is required during appointment to this job classification. The driver’s license must be maintained in good standing as per company insurance standards.
Continuing Education and Career Development
• A minimum of 1 book relevant to employee and business management are to be read each calendar year.
• Annual SMART goals are to be written and monitored throughout the year.
